WARRIORS slays SEC Tigers in a come-from-behind win

The NEMCO Warriors turned to their defense en route to a 64-61 come-from-behind victory over their archrivals SEC Tigers in the opening game of the 1st Mayor Nitoy Basketball Tournament 2010.


Trailing by 9, at the end of 3 quarters, the Warriors held the Tigers scoreless until the 4:39 mark of the 4th quarter to turn the game into a fiery contest. Richard Lumpay shows its toughness against the growling strenght of Nier Mota who was scoreless when Lumpay is around. The NEMCO Warriors bench mob provided enough to help the team in its quest for a first win in the opening day of the tournament. NEMCO attacked was led by Gerald Marquez with 21 points. Other double figure scorer for Warriors is Rams Ugay with 15 who played the entire game without substitution, and Raymond Lopez who had 5 points. This is a first for the Warriors against the power house of SEC in the past 2years. 


In the other game, the Young Warriors buried the SEC Young Tigers 74-38 in its opening game in the Secondary Level.


Led by its captain Rian Elano who finishes with 24 points and with great support from the rest of the starters who finishes all in double figures. Willie Polina with 14 points who started the Young Warriors attacked in the fourth quarter. Warriors consistency in defense put them ahead in its games in the opening day.
