Surigao Basketball today announced the 12 official veterans who will represent the Surigao City at the 2010 CHED Regional Athletic Meet that will be held Dec. 2 Dec. 4 in Surigao City. The player selections, made by the Surigao City selection Committee, were announced following a week training camp that included one exhibition game.
Named to the 2010 Surigao Basketball squad are one-time National Player Ramz Ugay (NEMCO); 2009 Regional Players Lord Toring, Raymond Lopez (NEMCO), Jerome Mollanida, Gringo Lerio, Bryan Polvoroza, Marvin Nier (SEC); as well as top-tier local newcomers Gerald Marquez, Richard Lumay, Jobert Lopez (NEMCO), Boy Cervantes, Tomken Patino (SSCT), key-reserves, Eustaquio Alaba, JP Arong, Reymond Balesco (NEMCO).
“The process has been unbelievably difficult. It’s taken a lot out of us, the committee, coaches, staff,” said SURIGAO and NEMCO head coach Clint Mondano. “It was probably the most difficult time that I’ve had as a coach in 8 years. But there’s so much uncertainty in our post players position that we had to make some very difficult decisions. I think the team that was picked is a terrific team. It’s a terrific group of kids and the next nine games will give us an opportunity to prove that.”
