Coach Clint to lead Team Surigao in the up-coming Regional Meet 2010

Clint Mondano, also known as Coach Mondano, will be coaching the Surigao del Norte basketball team at the 2010 Regional Athletic Meet for Basketball, which take place in Surigao City. After winning the 2010 Local Athletic Meet last November 13, 2010.
“When you are passionate, you always have your destination in sight and you are not distracted by obstacles. Because you love what you are pursuing, things like rejection and setbacks will not hinder you in your pursuit. You believe that nothing can stop you!”

In short, Mondano’s mission is to re-establish the Surigao’s position in regional basketball by coaching a depth team but not as talented with in the previous years. The first of its kind in the Province — leading up to the 2010 Local Athletic Meet.

Team SURIGAO DEL NORTE is filled with hyper-athletic and versatile players, but the squad's greatest strength is not its speed, its leaping ability, or the varied skill sets of its players. Above all else, the Surigao's greatest asset is their depth. While a team like Butuan  and Bislig may have as many as seven National-caliber players, the Surigao squad is loaded with talent at every position. With the likes of Ugay, Toring, et al on the roster, Team Surigao has more talent from top to bottom than any other squad in the tournament in the regional and Coach Mondano is positive about it.

Yet thus far, in games against Team Surigao's most skilled opponents, Clint Mondano has turned to a top-heavy rotation heavily dependent on its starters. It's an understandable tactic for most regional teams, but given how talented this roster is? And more importantly, how roughly congruent every talent on the roster happens to be? It's ludicrous.

“For me, this is the ultimate honor in coaching,” said Mondano. “It is a chance to represent the Surigao Province at this elite level of basketball. I am honored to be chosen and look forward to the opportunity to develop this team that will represent our great province in its own sport, both on and off the court.”
